Supporting People with Learning Disabilities.
Why is Easy-Read important?
The provision of accessible information is a major factor in providing support for parents with a learning disability. It is good practice to provide Easy-Read information as it enables parents to engage with services and therefore increase the chances of their children’s needs being met (The Good Practice Guidance, 2007).
Parents have the legal right to be fully involved in any issues regarding their children (Human Rights Act 1988).
Being able to understand information gives individuals the opportunity to make informed decisions and helps them to feel more in control.
