Volunteering

Volunteers are an integral and valued part of the whole team here at Plymouth Highbury Trust.

We are currently looking for volunteers in the following areas:

If you think you are able to support people with learning disabilities to have their voice heard and secure their rights then this is the role for you.

Parents with a learning disability often feel isolated or have additional problems such as poor housing, living in poverty, child protection concerns, managing children’s behaviour or poor reading and writing skills. Having a volunteer advocate to assist with some of these can make a vast difference to the life of a whole family.

There is a huge variety of roles available, supporting parents at every stage from pregnancy to post adoption.

Have a look at the Parent Project pages or call us on 01752 753719 for more information

If you like loud and busy the social clubs are an ideal place to volunteer. The Orbit Club runs from 10.30am – 2.30pm every Monday and Thursday from the Crownhill Family Centre, you will need to like karaoke! Our disco is open every Tuesday and Friday from 6.30pm – 8.45pm at our premises at Highbury, this is a very busy club with up to 150 people attending, if you like lively this is the one.

Again situated at Highbury this service supports around 20 people per day to access community activities, we are looking for volunteers to support the staff team in enabling clients to participate in their chosen activities.
For further information on all volunteering opportunities please contact us on 01752 773333.

As we work with vulnerable adults you must be able to provide 2 references and consent to a DBS check at an enhanced level, you will also be required to attend certain mandatory training.
